Interfaith Presence on the "494 Strip" in Minnesota

The coming to be of a third urban center, the Bloomington - Richfield area along Highway 494 demands rethinking of how interfaith spiritual presence will develop. New developments in the Mall of America region include several  Light Rail stations, The Ikea store, at least one Water Park and a variety of business and residential areas.

It is in the dawning of a new Minnesota urban center that Workplace Ministries intends to be a force for spiritual presence at the very heart of the community.

Since early in the 1980s concerned people of faith have experimented with various approaches to having an interfaith presence among the entertainment/hospitality businesses along the 494 freeway and in the communities of Bloomington, Richfield, Edina and Eden Prairie, part of the Minnesota metropolitan complex.

In 2004 the organization is developing a plan of operation that depends on  adequate money resources being in place. Persons interested in being part of this new venture are invited to present their names to Don Peterson at the address below.

The Board of Directors, is chaired by Don Peterson, manager of the Comfort Inn Bloomington. Other board members are Clarene Menzies, Jim Shannon, John Chell, and Delton Krueger. They come from Catholic, Muslim, Presbyterian, Lutheran and United Methodist spiritual traditions. They, together, bring over 100 years of experience in relating the religious and business communities. Organizations or firms interested in accessing this experience are invited to make application.

Contact Don Peterson at comfhot@mm.com  or phone 952-854-3400.
